WELSH MOUNTAIN ZOO / COLWYN BAY ZOO
What a great visit we had , the experience was brilliant from the start with a great smiley and enthusiastic welcome from the person at the gate all the way through to the informative and brilliant seal and penguin experience which makes you feel part of the zoo, we’ll definitely be coming again if not just to see those beautiful snow leopards which we were lucky enough to see on the day , without a doubt the best place to visit in North wales ! Highly recommended .
This is a lovely little zoo. We saw pretty much all the animals apart from the snow leopards and margay - but snow leopards are elusive and secretive in the wild and margays are nocturnal, so.... The red squirrel was super-cute. One of the condors was balancing on a bush and looked like it was trying to make a nest - it opened it's wings a couple of times and the wingspan is very impressive! Very friendly penguin kept swimming right up to us. The pine marten was lovely to see. The baby chimps were lovely and very playful.
Welsh Mountain Zoo is easy to locate and well worth a visit. It is so cheap for a family of 5, the kids loved it. The animals are beautiful and staff very knowledgeable. The kids played in the many parks. The zoo is so nice I habe been about 5 times. You can spend a whole day there, with the beautiful views and many picnic areas. At every point in the zoo, you can see and hear the animals. Wonderful experience, can not wait to go again very soon.
Set in North Wales overlooking COLWYN BAY is a 37 acre zoological garden known as the Welsh Mountain Zoo. The conservation zoo was founded in 1963 by wildlife expert and naturalist Robert Jackson.
